The Itria Valley seems to be so called because of the Chapel of the Madonna dell\u2019Odegitria (protector of wayfarers) located in the Church of the Capuchins, in Martina Franca.<\/p>

In fact, the valley is called the \u201cMadonna dell\u2019Odegitria\u201d, but over the years it has been summarized in Valle d\u2019Itria. The Valley is full of fascinating villages: Alberobello, Ostuni, Locorotondo, Ceglie Messapica, Cisternino, Martina Franca.<\/p>

If you are wondering: \u201cWhat about the sea?\u201d There are approximately 40 kilometers of coastline, alternating with dunes, Mediterranean scrub, sandy bays and rocks. Some locations: Torre Canne with sandy beaches and spring water lakes that feed the local spas; Pilone, from which the elegant beaches of Ostuni begin; Savelletri, a fishing village.<\/p>
